The 2009 Provincial 'AA' Field Hockey Championships will be held at the Burnaby Lake West Sports Complex and is scheduled to run from Wednesday November 4 – Friday November 6, 2009. Game times are from 8.00am until 5.00pm throughout the three days of competition.

2009 Provincial ‘AA’ Field Hockey Championships Information Bulletin #2 (October 22, 2009)
The tournament is only two weeks away! Here is some more information about the event. Please pass this on to everyone in your zone that you might not see on the email list. (Better to receive two bulletins than none.) Please do not hesitate to contact the tournament chair if you have any questions.
Tournament Host The tournament is being hosted by Brentwood College School of Mill Bay.

Tournament Venue and Facilities Burnaby Lake Sports Complex West. 3677 Kensington Ave., Burnaby BC. In case of severe weather alternate fields may be used. Metal cleats are not permitted on the artificial turfs at this facility. Only water and no food are allowed onto the playing areas. No pop-up tents will be provided over the team benches in part due to safety concerns and property damage in case of severe weather. Teams are responsible for their own protection from the weather.
2008 Tournament Dates Wednesday, November 4th 8:00 am to 5:00 pm Thursday, November 5th 8:00 am to 5:00 pm Friday, November 6th 8:00 am to 3:30 pm
Ceremonies There will not be an opening ceremony at the field – the official welcome will be done at the tournament banquet on Wednesday, November 4th. The closing ceremony and medal presentation will follow the final game on Friday, November 6th at approximately 3:30 pm. Trophy winners (first place, consolation winners and Fair Play award) from 2008 are expected to engrave, clean and bring the trophies to the tournament.
Tournament Registration Please make sure that all players are registered with B.C. School Sports prior to the registration deadline to avoid late fines. The cost for the tournament is $500.00 per school. Cheques should be made out to B.C.S.S.G.F.H.A. Please fill out a registration form and email it to alanna.martin@brentwood.bc.ca by Monday, October 26th. This form can be downloaded from the tournament website. Please indicate if your team has an alternate color jersey and more than one sock color. Coaches are reminded that mouth guards and shin guards are mandatory. Please bring an extra jersey as players will not be allowed to wear a shirt that has any blood on it. Goalies will need to wear a shirt that is different from both team’s colors.

Technical Meeting and Annual General Meeting The technical meeting for the tournament and the AGM of the BCSSGFHA will begin at 7:00 pm on Tuesday November 3rd in the field house at the Burnaby Lake Sports Complex. Each team competing in the championships is required to have a representative present (regulation #3 BCSSGFHA Rules and Regulations) Please bring all cheques to this meeting (registration / tshirts / banquet)
Photos Team photos will be taken on Wednesday November 4th at the field. The photo schedule will be given out at the coaches meeting on the Tuesday night. Team photos and action photos will be available from Vancouver Sports Pictures located at the tournament site.
Tournament T-Shirts: T-shirts MUST be ordered in advance. An order form can be downloaded from the website. The cost of the T-shirts is $25.00 Please email your requests to alanna.martin@brentwood.bc.ca by 3:00 pm on Monday, October 26th. Cheques should be made out to Brentwood College School. *Please bring two cheques – one for t-shirts and one for the banquet.
Banquet The banquet will be held on Wednesday, November 4th at Canlan Ice Sports – 8 Rinks, 6501 Sprott Street, Burnaby. All teams are expected to attend the event. The cost of the dinner is $30.00 per person. Please make cheques payable to -Brentwood College School. This cheque should be separate from the T-shirt order. The order form can be downloaded from the tournament website and emailed to alanna.martin@brentwood.bc.ca Teams are requested to bring two $15.00 gifts as door prizes (although you can always bring more!) (Gift certificates are a great idea.) The theme of the evening is “Old MacDonald had a Farm” and teams are encouraged to dress up in the costumes of their choice. Please make a separate t-shirt and banquet cheque.
First Aid Protocol: A trainer will be in attendance during this event. Ice will be available at all fields. In accordance with FIH regulations, the umpires will assess the injury and ask for help if needed. In case of minor events, the umpires may wave the coach onto the field. Coaches are not to enter the field of played until waved on. For more significant injuries, especially those to the head, the umpires will ask for the trainer. In either circumstance, the player must remain on the sidelines for at least 2 minutes after the resumption of play. Ambulances are to be called by the Tournament Technical officials only. For injuries that do not require an ambulance but do need extra medical attention, the Burnaby General Hospital is within 15 minutes of the field. Directions will be provided as part of the coaches’ technical information package. The tournament committee DOES NOT have a vehicle to transport players to hospital.
Accommodation: There is no tournament hotel. Teams are responsible for making their own arrangements. Please consult the BCSS handbook for hotels in the general vicinity. Here are a couple of options: The Sandman Hotel in Langley which has standard rooms, kitchenettes and suites. They cater to the sport market and are located with-in walking distance of every convenience (Denny’s, Collossus Entertainment Theatre with games room and Imax); or, The Sandman Suites Guildford which has apartment style rooms, full cooking and laundry facilities. Located near Moxies and the Guildford Mall. 2009 Provincial ‘AA’ Field Hockey Championships Information Bulletin #1 (October 14th, 2009)
This information bulletin will provide all schools with the basic information for the 2009 AA tournament. This information will be updated as the event draws closer. Please do not hesitate to contact the tournament chair if you have any questions.

The Organising Committee is offering umpires with a Provincial Rating or above the opportunity to officiate in this years AA Championships. All interested parties should send an e-mail to info@fieldhockeybc.com indicating their availability and current designation. Game times are scheduled between 8.00am and 5.00pm on each of the three days of competition.
