This information bulletin will provide all schools the basic information for the 2010 AAA tournament. This information will be updated as the event draws closer.

Tournament Venue and FacilitiesThe University of Victoria, Turf Fields
Metal cleats are not permitted on the artificial turfs at this facility.
Only water and no food are allowed onto the playing areas.
No pop-up tents will be provided over the team benches in part due to safety concerns and property damage in severe weather. Teams are responsible for their own protection from the weather.

Teams will play two games per day. Games will consist of two 30 minutes halves for pool play (running time/stopped for usual things) and for playoff games. There will be a 5 minute half time interval. Team captains will be called 5 minutes before the game is to commence. The technical regulations in the coaches’ packages will describe the tie-breaking procedures for pool and classification games.
Trophy PresentationsThe closing ceremony and medal presentation will follow the final game on Friday at approximately 4:45 pm. Trophy winners (first, second, third place, consolation winners and Fair Play award) from 2009 are expected to engrave, clean and bring the trophies to the tournament. These schools are:

Tournament WebsiteThe website will contain all the relevant information for registration, banquet tickets and T-shirt order forms. The website is provided by and through FHBC:
www.fieldhockeybc.comTournament RegistrationRegistration and all orders will be done on-line for 2010 through the website. The tournament entry fee is
$625 payable to the BCSSGFHA. Jersey numbers for all players must be provided. Team lists will be scrutinized to ensure that all players are eligible under BCSS rules.
All teams participating in this event must return their registration information by Thursday evening November 4, 2010.
Entry fees, banquet and T-shirt cheques are due at the Technical Meeting/AGM (see below).
Technical Meeting and Annual General MeetingThe technical meeting for the tournament and the AGM of the BCSSGFHA will take place from 7:00pm – 9:00pm on Tuesday November 9th at the University of Victoria, ‘S’ Hut (near the old tennis courts). The meeting will start promptly at 7:00 pm.
Each team competing in the championships is required to have a representative present (regulation #3 BCSSGFHA Rules and Regulations)
BanquetThe banquet will be held Thursday, November 11th at the Oak Bay Secondary School Gymnasium, 2151 Cranmore Road, Victoria. All participating teams are expected to attend. Doors will open at 6:00 pm and the opening remarks and banquet will commence at 6:30 pm. The cost will be $30 per person. Cheques are payable to
Cowichan Secondary School. Ticket orders must accompany registration information by Thursday evening November 4th.
Teams are requested to bring
two $15 gifts as door prizes.
The theme this year is
HAWAIIAN ON THE ISLAND. Each participating team is asked to organize and present a skit, song or dance at the Banquet. Any music required should be recorded on a CD or ipod.
PhotosTeam and individual photos will be taken on Wednesday November 10th at the field.
A schedule will be published and distributed to coaches at the AGM. Photographer TBA.
Tournament T-ShirtsT-Shirts this year are supplied Falcon Crest Images. T-shirts must be ordered in
ADVANCE by Thursday evening November 4th. Your order will be placed via email and must include sizes. The cost will be $25 per shirt. Sizes are small, medium, large and extra-large.

First Aid ProtocolA trainer will be in attendance during this event. Ice will be available at all fields.
In accordance with FIH regulations, the umpires will assess the injury and ask for help if needed. In case of minor events, the umpires may wave the coach onto the field. Coaches are not to enter the field of played until waved on. For more significant injuries, especially those to the head, the umpires will ask for the trainer. In either circumstance, the player must remain on the sidelines for at least 2 minutes after the resumption of play.
Ambulances are to be called by the Tournament Technical officials only.
For injuries that do not require an ambulance but do need extra medical attention, the Royal Jubilee Hospital is within 15 minutes of the field. Directions will be provided as part of the coaches’ technical information package. The tournament committee DOES NOT have a vehicle to transport players to hospital.
AccommodationThere is no tournament hotel. Teams are responsible for making their own arrangements. Please consult the BCSS handbook for hotels in the general vicinity.
Code of ConductAll players, coaches, team officials and parents are expected to abide by the BCSS Code of Conduct at all times.
