Information Bulletin #1
This information bulletin will provide all schools the basic information for the 2011 AAA tournament. This information will be updated as the event draws closer. Please do not hesitate to contact the tournament chair if you have any questions.

kgrant@summer.com Tournament Venue and FacilitiesCapital News Center Turf Field 4105 Gordon Drive, Kelowna, B. C. and University of British Columbia Okanagan. In case of severe weather alternate fields may be used. Metal cleats are not permitted on the artificial turfs at these facilities. Water permitted but no food and sport drinks are allowed onto the playing areas. No pop-up tents will be provided over the team benches in part due to safety concerns and property damage in case of severe weather. Teams are responsible for their own protection from the weather.
2011 Tournament DatesWednesday, November 9th 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Thursday, November 10th 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Friday, November 11th 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
CeremoniesThere will not be an opening ceremony at the field – the official welcome will be done at the tournament banquet at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday, November 10, 2011 at Kelowna Secondary School.
The closing ceremony and medal presentation will follow the final game on
Friday, November 11th at approximately 6:30 pm.
Trophy winners (first, second, third place, consolation winners and Fair Play award) from 2010 are expected to engrave, clean and bring the trophies to the tournament.
BanquetThe banquet will be held on Thursday, November 10th at Kelowna Secondary School. The theme for this year is “Formal”. Teams are requested to bring two $15.00 gifts that are non-school affiliated as door prizes.
Tournament RegistrationInformation about school registration as well as t-shirt and banquet orders will be detailed in
Bulletin # 2. Please make sure that all players are registered with B.C. School Sports prior to the registration deadline to avoid late fines.
Technical Meeting and Annual General MeetingThe technical meeting for the tournament and the AGM of the BCSSGFHA will begin at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 8th at the host hotel (Ramada Hotel and Conference Center). Each team competing in the championships is required to have a representative present (regulation #3 BCSSGFHA Rules and Regulations)
PhotosTeam photos will be taken on Wednesday November 9th at the fields. Pictures will be taken when teams are available on Wednesday. There will be no action photos for sale at this tournament.
Tournament T-Shirts:T-shirts must be ordered in advance. An order form will follow in Bulletin # 2.
First Aid Protocol:Physiotherapists will be in attendance at all times at both venues during this event. Ice will be available at all fields.
In accordance with FIH regulations, the umpires will assess the injury and ask for help if needed. In case of minor events, the umpires may wave the coach onto the field. Coaches are not to enter the field of play until waved on. For more significant injuries, especially those to the head, the umpires will ask for the Therapists. In either circumstance, the player must remain on the sidelines for at least 2 minutes after the resumption of play. Ambulances are to be called by the Tournament Technical officials only. For injuries that do not require an ambulance but do need extra medical attention, the Kelowna General Hospital is within 10 minutes of the field at the Capital News Center and 30 minutes from UBCO. Directions will be provided as part of the coaches’ technical information package. The tournament committee DO NOT have a vehicle available to transport players to hospital.

Code of Conduct:All players, coaches, team officials and parents are expected to abide by the BCSS Code of Conduct at all times.
PicturesAll teams should take a team photo and send the jpeg along with a list of row by row player names to
gotke@bedbugsquiltstudio.ca so that it can be included in the tournament programme. This can be done as soon as possible to allow time for printing.
