Step 1: Pick a stream that best represents your involvement with the sport and your goals as a coach.
The 2 streams currently available for Field Hockey are:
Stream 1: Community Sport – click here and scroll down to the “The New NCCP Model ” for a description of this stream.
Stream 2: Competition – click here and scroll down to the “The New NCCP Model ” for a description of this stream.
Step 2: Enroll and participate in the relevant courses and evaluations involved in each stream.
Community Sport:
For full certification as a Community Coach you will need to complete:
- The Community Coach Course - offered by FHBC – click here for the next available courses
- The “Make Ethical Decisions” Online Evaluation – click here to be linked to the Coaching Association of Canada’s (CAC) online evaluation
Competition:
There are 4 levels of certification currently offered. As the NCCP is currently in transition the courses are a combination of the Old and New NCCP courses.
For full Level 1 Certification you will need to complete:
- Level 1 Technical Course – this course is currently being revamped by Field Hockey Canada. In it’s place you can take the Community Coach Course or FHBC’s CEM Workshops
- Intro to Competition Part A (formerly L1 Theory) – common to all sports and as such is offered by the Coaching Association of BC (CABC). Please click here for the next available opportunities
- Level 1 Practical Evaluation – Self evaluation form that needs to be completed and faxed in to FHBC – click here to download form
For full Level 2 Certification you will need to complete:

- Level 2 Technical Course – offered by FHBC – click here for next available courses
- Introduction to Competition Part B (formerly L2 Theory) - common to all sports and as such is offered by the Coaching Association of BC (CABC). Please click here for the next available opportunities
- Level 2 Practical Evaluation – Evaluation form that needs to be completed by a Certified Level 3 Coach and faxed in to FHBC – click here to download form
