Provincial Excellence Stream (May-August)

The Provincial team program is targeted at BC’s best athletes. Through focused and periodized training, BC athletes are provided the opportunity to work with some of Canada’s best field hockey coaches in an inspiring and competitive environment. Teams prepare for domestic competitions such as BC, Western, and Canada Summer Games, Field Hockey Canada’s National Championships and BC’s Invitational Tournaments, as well as international competitions such as CAN/AM Challenge, and International Tours.

BC’s consistent success over the past few decades can be attributed to our pursuit of excellence and our athlete-centered performance model. Provincial Team programs commence training the first weekend of June, unless they are preparing for a Multi-sport games (ie. Canada Summer and Western Canada Summer Games).

Provincial Women
Senior and Under 19 Women’s teams are selected from provincial trials held in April, May or June. Junior Provincial teams are selected from the age-specific High Performance Tournaments in April and May. See Regional Program for more details.

Provincial teams are usually selected from the following age groups:
U14 (2 teams)
U16 (2 teams)
U18 or U19 (2 teams)
Senior (1-2 teams)
