SFHC and Dream star Surrey, British Columbia is set to host the action-packed 3rd Annual Surrey Cup International Hockey Tournament 2010 when The Surrey Lions compete with a myriad of highly acclaimed field hockey teams, July 23-25, 2010.Last year brought over 8,000 to 10,000 participants & attendees and this year’s bigger and better event is set to expect a huge crowd. Former and present Hockey Olympians and other Hockey greats will be present at the tournament to promote the game of Field Hockey.

More than 22 of the world’s best teams in field hockey have confirmed they will compete in the Surrey Cup International Hockey Tournament, an event that combines skill and talent on one field for three days. Opening ceremonies commence mid-morning on July 23rd and closing ceremonies will wrap up the fan-fare event on the evening of July 25th.

The 3rd Annual Tournament is the only large-scale, international field hockey competition and music festival in British Columbia Canada. The Surrey Cup International Hockey Tournament is designed to promote and celebrate the spirit of the game of Field Hockey by creating a platform for today's athletes to compete in this sports discipline. The event features top field hockey athletes, as well as music and a variety of other activities. This year's Surrey Cup International Hockey Tournament will see elevated levels of competition, an increased prize purse, and broadened appeal for spectators.

The tournament will be held for two categories of game play:
1. Men’s Open Championship.
2. Social – Men’s

This year many guest teams will be coming from abroad. Such as Namdhari XI, Air India from India, Spain, U.K. and from U.S.A.

North America’s top field hockey teams will be fighting for the top honors while showcasing their skills and talent to all attendees. Teams from Freemont CA, Dallas Texas, Phoenix Arizona, Los Angeles CA, San Jose CA, Calgary AB, Edmonton AB, Toronto, Manitoba, Seattle WA, Sacramento, Yuba City, Y2K LA. In addition, some of our best local teams like United Bros, India Club, Surrey Sharks, Panthers, Kings XI, UBC, Hawks Club, Burnaby Lake, Victoria Selects, West Vancouver and Army Volunteers will demonstrate their local field hockey tenacity.

2010 marks the third year of the Surrey Cup International Hockey Tournament and again it is hosted by a committee of the Surrey Field Hockey Club. Free accommodations will be provided to guest teams in 5star hotel and meals such as, breakfast and lunch will be served to all teams. This year’s event will take place at the Tamanawis Field located in Surrey BC on 126th and 64 Ave. Please note that the entrance to the field and free parking is available at Tamanawis Secondary School on 126 and 66 Avenue.
