There are 12 teams entered into our Invitational Tournament in Vancouver. Our Invitational Tournament this year will consist of 3 Competition Divisions: Junior Girls, Junior Boys and U14 Boys.
Women’s Division: 5 Teams
Men’s Division: 4 U16 Teams, 3 U14 Teams
PLAYING SCHEDULES
The men’s and women’s schedules are being drafted and will be available the week of June 30th.
PRACTICE TIMES
Eric Hamber field is available for practices starting on July 9th, 4:00pm-7:00pm at UBC and 3:00pm-7:00pm at Eric Hamber. Please let me know your practice request by June 27, 2008. Due to the several teams, we will be booking 45 minute half field slots.
TECHNICAL MEETING
The technical meeting is in UBC Osbourne Gym, Classroom 201, 8:00pm-9:00pm, Wednesday, July 9, 2007. All coaches and managers are required to attend. A quick note that goalkeepers must wear a different colour than their own team and the team they are playing, and the jersey must not be white. The technical regulations will be available on the tournament page on our website.
ACCOMMODATIONS
Direct Supervisor Policy: You will need 2 supervisors/team, and the residence requires us to complete a supervisor’s form. I will also need a main cell number, for the group organizer for each province.
AIRPORT INFORMATION
Vancouver International Airport (YVR) is located on Sea Island in Richmond, British Columbia about 15 kilometers from downtown Vancouver. The airport is at 3211 Grant McConachie Way, Richmond. It is an Air Canada hub as well as a focus city for WestJet.
TRANSPORTATION
For airport transfers, I suggest the following service:
For charter information: 604-255-1171. Visit online at www.maverickcoach.com (Traxx). They charge approximately $500 plus tax to transfer 56 passengers from the airport to Totem Park ($9 per person).
TOURNAMENT FEES
FHBC is charging a tournament entry fee of $1222 per visiting team for this year’s Invitational Tournament, this includes the tournament BBQ. The Invitational Entry Fee is due on July 3, 2008.
MEALS
On Campus: Totem Park cafeteria will be available on a daily basis offering a variety of dining at reasonable prices. However, the cafeteria is only open until 7:00pm, so will need a special request for late closing. Contact Lori McGowan for meal details (604-822-5522). 90% prepayment is required for the orders.
Off Campus: Vancouver’s Point Grey neighbourhood, as well as near by Kitsilano offer numerous dining experiences.
TOURNAMENT BBQ
All participating teams, officials and VIP Guests are invited to attend the Tournament BBQ on Friday, July 13th at Mathews Field, Thunderbird Stadium. The BBQ will get underway at 6:30pm. On the UBC Map Mathews Field is in section K4 beside Thunderbird Stadium, whereas Wright Field is in section J5
TEAM TRAVEL INFORMATION
For Ontario and Alberta, please fill in your travel information and rosters.
Please submit this to FHBC as soon as possible (deadline July 3, 2008).
