Britta Ratzburg, Paul Chohan, Gavin Caldecott, Jane Nockolds (FIH Umpire Manager/Course Conductor), Kersten Bristch and Meghan McLennan at the PanAm Umpiring Seminar
During the Olympic Qualifier in Victoria, participants from across Canada and Bermuda attended the PanAm Umpiring Seminar conducted by FIH Umpire Manager Jane Nockolds. Several participants were able to attend thanks to the Jenny John Award. Seminar participants attended sessions on “Achieving Your Potential,” “What Does It Take To Be An FIH Umpire,” and “Umpiring Under Pressure." Video from the 2006 Men’s World Cup and observing matches at the Qualifier allowed participants to see umpires in action. Jane Nockolds stressed the importance of umpires working together with coaches, assessors, and players to improve the game for everyone. Special thanks are owed to Denise McGeachy for her organization of the seminar and the many sponsors who supported the event.
